Multispecies Overnight Halibut Trips

Halibut, Rockfish, Salmon, Lingcod

Overnight In Seldovia, Alaska
$1490 Per Person

One of our favorite trips! These trips involve two days of multispecies fishing for halibut, rockfish, salmon and lingcod. Our trips depart Homer, Alaska and at the end of the first day of fishing returns to the remote town of Seldovia, Alaska. Hot showers, and comfortable beds are just a few minutes walk from the Seldovia, Marina. After settling in, dinner and drinks with your crew will be enjoyed at one of Seldovia Harbor’s restaurants, where live music is common and views are always spectacular. The next morning, the boat is fueled, ready to go, as we embark on day 2 of our multispecies fishing before returning to Homer, Alaska around 3:30PM.

On these trips you’ll have the opportunity to catch 2 daily limits of halibut, 2 daily limits of rockfish, 2 daily limits of salmon, and 2 daily limits of lingcod. That’s a lot of 2 daily limits!

Seldovia, Alaska

Seldovia, Alaska, a hidden gem on the Kenai Peninsula, is an idyllic small town accessible only by boat or plane. This seclusion adds to its charm and tranquility. Home to around 255 residents,

The town’s stunning natural beauty, with lush forests and pristine waters, is perfect for fishing, hiking, and wildlife observation. Seldovia’s historic boardwalk, a remnant of its bustling past, offers a quaint stroll. The annual Summer Solstice Music Festival showcases local talent, celebrating the longest day of the year. This unique Alaskan destination blends picturesque landscapes with rich cultural traditions, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

A Perfect Overnight Stop

Seldovia is located about 20 miles from Homer, and we usually pass it the way to our fishing grounds. It takes about 1 hour to reach Seldovia from Homer, but this does depensd on the water conditions.

It might be hard to believe, but once upon a time Seldovia was the commerce hub of South Central Alaska. In 1951, the road system from Anchorage reached Homer, starting the decline of Seldovia as the main hub of the region.

The 9.2 magnitude earth quake on March 27, 1964 caused severe damage to the town and had to be more or less entirely rebuilt. This was really the final blow to the town as a central hub. Now Seldovia exists as a very popular destination for locals, festivals, and holidays. It’s an overlooked gem we’re happy we get to introduce visitors to on our overnight excursions.

A Note About Lingcod On Our Combo Fishing Trips

Lingcod are voracious predators, feeding on nearly anything they can fit in their mouths, including invertebrates and many species of fish, such as herring and salmon. One of their favorite foods is smaller octopuses, and they also readily devour large rockfish. For this reason, lingcod are found in the same general areas that we target rockfish. However, specifically targeting these potential monsters is inconsistent and therefore we treat lingcod as an “extra” fish on our trips. Any of our rockfish trips have a very good chance of catching a lingcod since all these fish are found in the same area. Lingcod can only be retained after July 1st and must be minimum of 35″ in overall length.

Our Fishing Grounds

Not surprisingly, knowing where to fish is where it all begins. We are so fortunate to have such a massive and fertile fishing area at nearly 4,500 square miles. The fishing grounds begin almost as soon as we leave the Homer harbor extending as far north as Ninilchik and as far south as the Barren Islands.

These waters are home to millions of halibut, rockfish, lingcod, shark, Octopus, Skates, and more.

Where we fish depends on the type of combo fishing trip we’re taking that day, previous days fishing quality, and of course, we always keep a mindful eye on the weather. But, the entirety of the area in red are areas we might fish on your trip.
